The price Indians pay for food should eventually reflect the true costs associated with producing it, including the stewardship necessary to ensure that the land will remain fertile and productive, the health and benefits required to maintain an active labour force, the strength of rural communities, and a profit margin that will encourage people like us to work nonstop to produce food and fibre for the rest of the world.
